Where scraps of fabric and bits of nature become art for your home
Author: Grammies Inspirations
When I look at a blank piece of paper, my mind goes blank. When I look at fabric, I see endless possibilities. When I pick up a scrap of fabric and add a bit of nature, a new world opens up for me.
My mom quilted, I didn't. Why was that? I have no idea. I also have no idea when every member of the family started calling my mother Grammie.
I went to college and college and college, ending up with a PhD in Horticulture. I loved the community side of horticulture - school gardens, child nutrition, farmer's markets. I loved it and was happy.
My mom passed away and we moved to a new state. I brought my mother's fabric with me. I sat staring at 8 bureau draws of fabric and it came to me to start a business called Grammies Inspirations.
I bought a Bernina Aurora QE and sewed fearlessly. I chose an Ohio Star as my first quilt block and made a queen size top. You can imagine what that looked like. Now I can do many techniques, but raw edge applique is my favorite.
I opened an Etsy shop (https://www.GrammiesInspirations.etsy.com). My favorite part of my shop are the custom orders.
